Course “Floristry BASE” (12 days, 60 hours)
Day 1
Introduction to the Profession of a Florist
- Theory:
- Who is a florist? Key responsibilities, career opportunities, and specializations.
- Overview of basic tools: secateurs, knives, tapes, wires, etc.
- Materials: wrapping paper, floral foam, hydration products.
Practice: - Tool handling.
- Preparing flowers: cleaning, cutting, placing in water.
Day 2– 3
Floristry Fundamentals + Hierarchy & Texture
- Theory:
- Growth forms of plants and their impact on bouquet structure.
- Brief history of floristry: from ancient to modern.
- Receiving and storing floral deliveries.
- Techniques: parallel and tiered construction.
- Flower hierarchy: focal, accent, filler.
- Working with texture: combining matte, glossy, fluffy, and smooth elements.
- Types of bouquets: closed, open, airy.
- Practice:
- First spiral bouquet.
- Bouquet focused on hierarchy and texture.
Day 4
Composition and Harmony
- Theory:
- Proportions: golden ratio, visual balance.
- Rhythm and flow in design.
- Light and color influence on perception.
- Practice:
- Round bouquet with wrapping.
Day 5-6
Color Theory & Advanced Techniques
- Theory:
- Color wheel: primary, secondary, neutral.
- Color schemes: monochrome, complementary, triadic.
- From technique to style: building your personal aesthetic.
- Asymmetry and tension points in design.
- Practice:
- Loose bouquet on greenery with color harmony.
- Advanced spiral technique and form variations.
Day 7
Wrapping and Presentation
- Theory:
- Wrapping as a design element.
- Style breakdown: Korean minimalism and European structure.
- Practice:
- Wrapping bouquets in various styles.
Day 8-9
Box Arrangements & Wedding Floristry
- Theory:
- Composition styles for box arrangements: romantic, modern, monochrome.
- Working with floral foam and water-absorbing materials.
- Types of bridal bouquets: round, cascade, free-form.
- Proportions and styling for the bride.
- Practice:
- Arrangement in a hat box.
- Bridal bouquet assembly.
Day 10-11
Wreaths & Seasonal Floristry
- Theory:
- Circular design: meaning, stability, and styles.
- Wreath types: home decor, door, funeral, decorative.
- Seasonal design principles:
- Spring – lightness, pastels, first blooms.
- Summer – brightness, richness, wildflowers.
- Autumn – deep tones, berries, foliage.
- Winter – minimalism or holiday mood.
- Practice:
- Classic and decorative wreaths.
- Seasonal bouquet of student’s choice.
Day 12
Final Preparation & Examination
- Morning – Preparation:
- Recap of key topics: technique, composition, color, wrapping.
- One-on-one feedback and final adjustments.
Afternoon – Exam: - Independent final project based on assignment.
- Evaluation: technique, design, color use, presentation.
- Feedback session and course completion ceremony.
